We had a call from a professional couple in Jess and Richard from Canterbury. My wife knows Jessies mum and sister. Having just had an amazing extension signed off their attention had moved to their garden. Could I design something that didn’t interrupt the views they had looking over Canterbury and compliment their extension. The extension was for two sides virtually glass and let in a lot of light, and very modern looking, all fittings in white UPVC. The border wall was very old and in danger of collapse, the garden area had been used as storage by the builders and was not a pretty sight.
The task was to extend the new extension into the garden, keep the lines and make everything look clean and tidy. Originally with a separate section to be a play area, including a mud kitchen and various play items. Raised beds, trellis and a pergola to provide a framework for planting.
As ever there was dialogue around the landscaping, originally on contents and positioning, and later around cost, but we quickly worked out a plan that worked for everybody and work commenced during the searing heat of August and the end result were just what everybody wanted.
The bricks in the wall were removed and the short fence extended. The pergola was erected at the side of the house, two raised sleeper beds were installed and the paving laid. It was then decided to replace the side gate and capping stone on the walls were extended.
