One of my favorite plants is the choisia.
Why is that? Well, its got the rich dark green leaves which are brilliant all year round. But it also has these numerous white flowers which really stand out from all thats green, but the best thing is that they flower is September and October when the garden tends to be a little bit devoid of anything other than green.
So finding those plants that flower in those quiet times makes them even more impressive than they might be otherwise. Just one word of warning though, as in lots of shrubs it can take them two, three or four years before they really start flaring.
This is the first year that this one has really really produced a spectacular bloom. An amazing addition to the lazy gardeners garden.
